Industry NewsPittsburgh and Fort Worth Symphonies on strikeAFM International President Raymond Hair Jr. has sent the following announcements concerning the current state of these two ongoing strikes. Click to read MPTF computer files hackedMPTF Trustee John Hall sent a letter stating that their computers had been hacked, but they were successful in stopping the identity theft and that all money has been recovered. Unfortunately they have to start from scratch with all new bank accounts and other protective procedures. Therefore the fund will be going into a lock down until further notice. They will not take any new requests but will still underwrite all those approved prior to February 1, 2011. Artists for Workers ChoiceMembers of Actors’ Equity Association, the American Federation of Musicians of the United States and Canada , AFTRA, DGA, IATSE, Moving Pictures Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts of the United States , its Territories and Canada , SAG, WGA-East, and WGA-West worked with the AFL-CIO to develop a new online video called “Artists4WorkersChoice.” Unionists received overwhelming public support at Bass HallHundreds of musicians and their union brothers and sisters formed picket lines, distributed leaflets, in protest of Texas Ballet Theater’s canned music policy. Demonstrators inflated a giant rat balloon to draw attention to musicians’ concerns. |
